Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center

The Seattle DBDC is situated in a rich research environment that includes a state-of-the-art commercial-grade research kitchen (Human Nutrition Lab) housed in a clinical research center (Prevention Center Shared Resource) and supported by other institutional shared resources for data coordination and diverse participant recruitment. Research is performed by investigators in the University of Washington Northwest Metabolomics Research Center. Data analysis teams span across the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and University of Nebraska, and collaborators include investigators at the Women’s Health Initiative Clinical Coordinating Center at Fred Hutch, the American Cancer Society, and Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Johanna Lampe, PhD, RD

MPI, Director of the Intervention Core and Co-Director of Biomarkers Project

Professor and Associate Director Public Health Sciences Division

Johanna Lampe is a Full Professor and Associate Division Director of the Division of Public Health Sciences at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA. She is also Research Professor in Epidemiology and Core Faculty in Nutritional Sciences in the School of Public Health, University of Washington. Dr. Lampe’s research focuses on the effect of diet on cancer susceptibility in humans and the effects of human genetic and gut microbial variation on response. She uses controlled feeding studies in humans to characterize biochemical and physiologic responses to dietary constituents and foods and to better understand microbially-derived variation in dietary exposures and the variation’s impact on health. She serves as PI or co-PI on several NIH/NCI-funded human mechanistic studies and, with Dr. Neuhouser, leads the Nutrition and Physical Activity Assessment Study, developing and testing biomarkers of diet.
